The world’s second largest software company Oracle, has announced that it will launch a DLT-based Platform as a Service (PaaS) program for its customers
Bloomberg has reported that Oracle, a leading software company, will be launching its own digital ledger technology (DLT) software.
Thomas Kurian, president of product development with Oracle, said Monday that the company was planning on launching the Platform as a Service (PaaS) blockchain product and decentralised ledger-based applications as early as next month.
Oracle is reportedly working with two clients, one being Banco de Chile. and the other is the government of Nigeria.
For Banco de Chile, Oracle will log inter-bank transactions on a hyperledger. For the government of Nigeria, the initiative will be used to document customs and import duties on blockchain.
Oracle has been active in the blockchain space, since joining Linux Foundations’ open-source blockchain project Hyperledger.
In October 2017, Oracle launched its Blockchain Cloud Service, which is an advanced, enterprise-grade, DLT cloud platform.
Globally, software companies have begun to position themselves and launched their own blockchain based DLT solutions.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), Baidu, Huawei, IBM, JD.com, Microsoft, Salesforce.com and Samsung have all announced programs to implement the technology in order to drive down costs.
