Amazon’s web services has announced the launch of Blockchain Templates, a ‘blockchain-as-a-service’ (BaaS) solution, that provides AWS engineers a faster way to setup Ethereum or hyperledger fabric networks.
Using these templates, clients would be able to focus on building their blockchain applications instead of spending time and energy on the manual setup of their blockchain network.
In addition to Blockchain Templates, AWS is also investing in blockchain through its partner ecosystem and infrastructure services.
Jeff Barr, AWS VP and chief evangelist in a blog post;
AWS said its new Blockchain Templates will simplify the process of launching an Ethereum or Hyperledger Fabric network, getting it done “in a matter of minutes and with just a few clicks.”
AWS Blockchain Templates deploy the blockchain framework you choose as containers on an Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster, or directly on an EC2 instance running Docker.
Amazon looks to compete against existing BaaS providers Huawei, which announced its new service last week, or existing players IBM and Oracle’s open-source Hyperledger Fabric.
According to a Bloomberg report published in March, Alphabet Inc.’s Google is also working on a blockchain solution for its cloud business.
