The goal is to to create a worldwide community of developers building smart mobility applications utilizing IOTA’s blockchain technology
The developer of ‘IOTA Tangle’ – a block-less distributed ledger protocol to enable technology for the shared data economy in IoT ecosystems, IOTA Foundation is partnering with the International Transportation Innovation Center (ITIC) to build a global alliance of smart mobility testbeds, platforms to think through innovations and test new applications, processes, products, services, and business models to determine their usefulness, suitability, and viability before implementation.
The IOTA Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation, and the creator of cryptocurrency IOTA and IOTA Tangle, an open-source distributed ledger focused on providing secure communications and payments between machines on the Internet of Things (IoT).
ITIC’s focus is to build a global network of open and closed testbeds to determine which AI-based mobility services — in “smart city” environments — will work. It does this with a combination of virtual, augmented, and physical testing methods and validating technologies that support connected, automated, and zero-emission driving.
The IOTA data market initiative will provide a platform that acquires, shares, and selects high-quality test data from certified test sites. Public and private testbeds will be able to participate in what the organizations are calling the ITIC Mobility Testbed Alliance — an initiative of ITIC that is supported by the IOTA Foundation.
The ITIC Mobility Testbed Alliance is aimed at strengthening the company testing capabilities towards the requirements of a global market of distributed developers.
The goal is to to create a worldwide community of developers building smart mobility applications utilizing IOTA’s blockchain technology and data market platform, and to enable a shared automated and sustainable mobility ecosystem with the highest possible level of security. ITIC will focus on building a global network of open and closed testbeds to incubate and validate artificial intelligence, sustainable mobility services in “smart city” environments. These will use virtual, augmented and physical testing methods. It will also generate a test data pool that can be utilized by the whole smart mobility ecosystem.
IOTA stands for “Internet of Things Application”. The platform is designed to provide secure communications and payments between all the different items on the Internet of Things (IoT). The name also relates to small things communicating within the IoT. IOTA does not use the traditional blockchain technology of most coins such as bitcoin, ethereum and many others but a special type of directed acylic graph (DAG) technology called tangle. The system claims to handle an unlimited number of transactions simultaneously. The market capitalization of IOTA is over $10.8 billion, making it the tenth-largest cryptocurrency in circulation.
